Understanding Car Inspection Reports: How to Read the Data Before You Bid
In the traditional used car market, a buyer’s biggest fear is the "hidden defect." You see a shiny exterior, but you can’t see the engine wear or the structural repairs hidden under the paint.
At Garir Nilam, we’ve replaced guesswork with the Technician Report. Every vehicle on our platform undergoes a structured review, resulting in a comprehensive data sheet. Understanding how to read this report is the difference between a risky gamble and a smart investment.
Here is your guide to decoding the Garir Nilam Inspection Report.
1. The 1-10 Scoring System (The "Health Gauge")
Every report features an overall condition rating on a scale of 1 to 10. To make it easy to scan, we use a universal color-coding system:
- 🟢 Green (8–10): Excellent Condition These vehicles are in top-tier shape. They typically require no immediate repairs and have been maintained exceptionally well.
- 🟡 Yellow (5–7): Good/Fair Condition The most common category for used cars. These vehicles are reliable but may have minor cosmetic wear, aged tires, or require a standard service (oil, filters, brakes) soon.
- 🔴 Red (1–4): Poor Condition These cars have significant issues. This could mean mechanical failure, structural damage, or major missing components. These are best suited for buyers looking for "project cars" or those with a heavy repair budget.
2. Deep Dive: Technician Notes
The score is the "what," but the Notes are the "why." Our technicians record specific observations that a camera might miss.
- Engine & Transmission: Look for notes on "vibration," "gear shifting delay," or "fluid leaks."
- Suspension: Technicians will note if there are "unusual noises" or if the "bushes are worn."
- Electricals: We check if the AC is cooling effectively and if all dashboard sensors are clear.
3. Visual Evidence & High-Res Gallery
A report is only as good as its proof. Every listing includes a Photo Gallery served via a high-speed CDN for instant loading.
- The 360° View: We provide angles of the exterior, interior, engine bay, and trunk.
- Detail Shots: If a technician finds a scratch, dent, or upholstery tear, they will include a specific "Attachment" photo of that defect.
- The Dashboard: We always include a photo of the instrument cluster while the engine is running to show the current mileage and any active warning lights.
4. Vehicle Context & History
A single report is a snapshot in time. To give you the full picture, we provide:
- Report Count: Has this car been inspected multiple times?
- Average Scores: If multiple reports exist, we show the average to ensure consistency.
- Review Dates: Always check the "Review Date" to ensure the inspection is recent. A report from six months ago may not reflect the car's current state if it has been driven extensively since then.
5. Why "Technician Reports" Beat "Auction Sheets"
Many buyers in Bangladesh rely solely on Japanese Auction Sheets. While these are great for reconditioned cars, they don't tell you how the car was treated after it arrived in Dhaka. Our local Technician Report tells you the current reality of the car on Bangladeshi roads—accounting for local fuel quality, traffic wear, and recent maintenance history.
Summary Checklist for Bidders
Before you place your bid, ask yourself:
- Is the score Green or Yellow? (If Red, do I have a mechanic ready?)
- Have I read the "Notes" section entirely?
- Are the "Attachments" showing any structural damage?
- Does the VIN in the report match the vehicle’s registration?
